Your vet said no more collars. This is the harness.
If your small dog makes a honking sound when she pulls, or you have heard the words tracheal collapse in an exam room, you were given one instruction on the way out: take the leash off the neck. This is the vest that does exactly that, every walk.

Yorkie Pomeranian Chihuahua Maltese Shih Tzu French bulldog Pug Boston terrier Mini poodle Papillon Havanese
A collar puts the whole walk on two inches of throat.
On a big dog that is a thick, muscled neck. On a 4 lb Yorkie or a 7 lb Chihuahua it is most of the neck there is, right over the windpipe. Toy breeds and flat-faced breeds have small, soft airways. So the instruction from the vet does not change from breed to breed: harness, not collar. Keep the throat out of it.
Plain version of what your vet meant: the leash should pull on the chest, never on the neck. Any harness that tightens around the neck when the dog pulls has missed the point.
They are a collar with extra straps.
Pick up the average small-dog harness and look for the loop that goes over the head. When the dog lunges after a squirrel, that loop takes the load, exactly where the collar sat. Front-clip "no pull" harnesses are built for a 65 lb Labrador; they turn the dog sideways. A 9 lb Pomeranian with a sensitive throat needs neither.

Already in a harness and still hearing the honk? Try this. Hold the leash and pull gently forward, then watch the straps. If a loop or strap moves up toward the neck, the leash is still reaching the throat. That is the one thing a harness can change. A cough can have other causes too, so tell your vet what you are hearing.
Nothing crosses the throat.
- 1Step in, not over the head.
Two leg holes. The dog steps in with the front paws. No loop is pushed over the ears or pulled around the neck, which matters twice a day for a dog that hates things near her face.
- 2The chest plate takes the pull.
A padded, breathable mesh plate sits across the sternum, the broadest and best-protected part of a small dog. When she lunges, the load spreads across that plate.
- 3Closes over the back.
The buckle and the leash D-ring sit between the shoulder blades. The leash pulls from above and behind. The front of the neck stays open on every step.
Nothing at the throat
One narrow band takes all of it.
The same pull, spread wide.
The pull does not change. The surface that takes it does. This is a piece of walking equipment. It changes where the leash pulls, nothing more. Keep seeing your vet; keep doing whatever they told you to do.
Built for the dog most harness ranges forget.
Most ranges start at "small", which means a Beagle. Collarless starts at XS, which means a 4 lb Yorkie.
Soft air mesh
Front and back, so the chest plate breathes on a summer walk. Hand wash, dries in an hour.
Reflective outline
Piping along every edge. The whole vest lights up in headlights on the evening walk.
Back buckle and D-ring
Fit is set once on the back strap, then clipped in seconds. Steel D-ring between the shoulders.
Padded chest plate
The one part that takes the load, cushioned across the sternum. Four colors; black and gray are the ones we photograph.
Frenchies and Pugs get the same handout.
Short airways, broad chests, a habit of pulling toward anything that smells interesting. The vest sits on the chest they have plenty of and stays away from the neck they do not. Sizes M and L cover them; the back strap adjusts to the dog in front of you.
Four sizes, up to 33 lb.
Weight picks the size. Between sizes, go up: a roomy vest still closes snug on the back strap, a tight one does not close at all.

Before you order
She already wears a harness and still coughs. Will this stop it?
We can't promise that, and no harness can. A harness only changes where the leash pulls. If hers has a loop over the head, or rides up toward the neck when she pulls, the leash may still be reaching her throat. This vest puts the pull on the chest plate instead. If her harness already stays clear of the neck, a new one may change nothing. Keep following your vet's advice.
Will she slip out of it?
A step-in vest closes over the back with a buckle and adjusts snug. Two fingers should fit under the back strap, no more. A vest fitted that way stays on through a lunge. A vest two sizes too big does not, which is why the size chart is on this page.
Does it work for a cat or a kitten?
Yes. XS and S fit cats under 13 lb. Same step-in fit, same back closure.
My Frenchie is 26 lb. Which size?
L. It covers 22 to 33 lb. If it turns out wrong, the right size ships free.
Can I still use her ID tag?
Yes. Hang it from the D-ring at the back, away from the throat.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cool water, air dry flat. The mesh dries in an hour.
Where does it ship from, and how long?
From our fulfillment warehouse, tracked, 5 to 11 days to a US address. You get the tracking number by email the moment it leaves.
Is this a medical device?
No. It is walking equipment. It changes where the leash pulls and nothing else. Follow your vet's advice.
One instruction, followed.
Your vet said the leash comes off the neck. Collarless is the harness that does exactly that and nothing else. Step in, close over the back, walk.
